Oil Palm Plantation: Nigeria

A Management Project by AgriNexus International Since 2016

AgriNexus was contracted by a Nigerian company in January 2016 to conduct a Feasibility Study on its 4,500 Hectare plantation land-bank. The primary objective was to ensure that the remaining unplanted land-bank of approximately 1,900 Hectares was able to return similar or higher yields to their existing planted areas.

AgriNexus not only evaluated and assessed the suitability of the remaining land-bank but was also able to identify potential practice improvements using our in-house Best Operating Practices (BOP) to increase yields and return higher profitability.

The table below exhibits the upward trajectory in yields and sustained productivity from the oil palm plantation landbank following the adoption of AgriNexus’ BOP.

Operations in the Plantation

AgriNexus committed to the development of an Oil Palm Plantation with our client and with the know-how and assistance of our panel of Malaysian experts, delivered a plantation asset of International Standards.

AgriNexus also provided the necessary guidance and training to the local Staff for the Operations and Management of the Plantation to ensure continuity in maintaining high standards.

The Plantation is currently divided into 3 sections, consisting of Old Mature Palms, Young Mature Palms and Newly Planted Palms. The development of the Plantation is on-going, supported by our in-house Experts, assessing and delivering on requirements and needs from Greenfield and Brownfield to Nursery, Infrastructure and equipment.

Nursery

A new Nursery was established in 2016 to cater for new Planting for 2017 to 2020. A 2-stage Nursery was set up to ensure that cost, quality and timelines of the planting are within tight controls.

GAP & BOP makes our Plantation a Successful Project

Mill

Operating since 2017, the 6 TPH mill is currently processing the FFB harvested in the Plantation. The Mill is planned to be extended to a capacity of 30 TPH as the production of FFB in the Plantation is increasing.

Our Experts ensure the FFB harvested from the field to be sent to the Mill is reach to the best ripeness. This will help the Mill to produce the highest quality of CPO to the Clients.

Positive Socio-Economic Impact

The rollout of the expansion project and improved operations also acted as a catalyst to positively impact socio-economic conditions for the in the plantation by creating job opportunities, alleviating poverty and introducing much needed healthcare services.

A Sustainable Plantation for a Better Future

Forest Sustainability and High Conservation Values

The project implementation was conducted to ensure no destruction of primary and high conservation value (HCV) forests and their associated wildlife, whilst securing the local community and indigenous people’s livelihoods. All practices adhered to The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) parameters.
