DR. ATHAN FOX

PhD, FRSC, FIMMM

FORTE • Green Chemist, Innovator, Serial Entrepreneur, Renewable Energy

Dr. Athan Fox is a pioneering chemist, cleantech innovator, and serial entrepreneur whose work bridges the gap between fundamental science and global sustainability. As co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Regenerate Technology Global, he leads the development of patented processes that are revolutionising materials recycling – transforming the environmental impact of industries traditionally rooted in waste. His breakthrough in lead-acid battery upcycling reduced waste by 90% and carbon emissions by 85%, producing materials that surpass the performance of their primary equivalents.

Dr. Fox holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM). His expertise spans green chemistry, advanced materials and synthetic biology, with over a decade of leadership in building high-impact technology ventures.

Previously, Dr. Fox served as Chief Science Officer at Sabien Technology Group PLC, where he led the licensing of novel South Korean ceramic catalyst technology for plastics recycling. He also co-founded 17Cicada Ltd, a synthetic biology start-up developing green chemical processes for applications ranging from cosmetics to cancer treatment, successfully securing multimillion-pound grants and scaling international operations. His career has been distinguished by strategic foresight and an ability to identify and commercialise breakthrough technologies. As a board member of ALGOLiON, he helped guide the company to a successful acquisition by General Motors, supporting the development of lithium battery safety technologies that detect hazards days before they arise.

Dr. Fox has received over 25 national and international awards and grants, including Innovate UK, Horizon 2020, and multiple Global Business Innovation Programmes. His technical leadership has been recognised with awards such as “Global Start-Up of the Year” and “Cleantech Company of the Year,” and he has served as a UK and EU delegate on numerous sustainability and innovation missions across Asia. With publications in critical battery recycling, a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, and several granted patents, Dr. Fox combines deep scientific expertise with visionary business leadership.

A meticulous, strategic thinker, Dr. Fox thrives on solving complex challenges through science, turning bold ideas into scalable, real-world solutions.
